At Dachshunds and Friends Rescue, we are dedicated to finding forever and foster homes for dogs in the Los Angeles region. Our primary focus is Dachshunds, but just like our name says, we are inclusive of other breeds as well. We regularly host public adoption events at multiple locations in the LA area, and are happy to host home visits that fit your schedule. For more information about the dogs available, fostering, volunteering, or auctions, please see contact information below.
MEET OUR TEAM OF LONG DOG LIFE SAVERS
Cheryl Stone, Founder
When Cheryl lost her third little Doxie named Sophie she started looking into dachshund rescues to adopt a new pet. She found her little Mia and soon started volunteering for the rescue. She was hooked!!! Saving the lives of dogs that needed help so desperately became her passion. She volunteered for almost 3 years fostering countless dogs, doing fundraising events, adoption events, giving vaccines, doing home checks, driving to get dogs and many other things. You name it and she probably did it……lol. She was blessed to have this experience and learned so much.
In the Spring of 2017, Cheryl decided to start her own rescue and that was the beginning of Dachshunds and Friends Rescue. 😀

Tammy Rueckner, Board Member
Tammy is happy to be a part of Dachshunds and Friends Rescue and support their mission and vision.
Of course she has always been an animal lover….. dogs, cats, hamsters, bunnies, it didn’t matter. Early on she had a habit of picking up dogs off the streets and getting them back to their families or finding a home for those that were homeless.
In 2014, Tammy met a rescuer at her veterinarian’s office and started fostering for her for several months. Eventually she found a dachshund rescue and met Cheryl Stone who was a fellow volunteer. She fostered and volunteered with this rescue for a couple years until Cheryl started Dachshunds and Friends Rescue, and quickly signed up with Cheryl. Tammy admire’s her love for dogs and her drive to make a difference.
Tammy encourages everyone to make a difference in a homeless dog’s life. To date Tammy has fostered 60+ dogs. Fostering saves lives and she’s proud to be a rescuer.
Hometown: Alhambra, CA
Fun Fact: Her husband is from Peru and she’s explored the ruins of Machu Picchu.
